St. Stephen’s Episcopal Day School

St. Stephen’s Episcopal Day School has been serving children, families, and the community since 1958. Recognized as an Apple Distinguished School, St. Stephen’s is a leader in providing innovative – and inspiring – educational opportunities for their students. They recently completed a major renovation project, and East Coast Flooring & Interiors was proud to be a part of this extensive project.
East Coast Flooring & Interiors has been serving the region since 1985. In that time, we have advised on a variety of projects and have installed virtually any type of flooring surface you can imagine. We called upon our experience and ingenuity to help St. Stephen’s achieve their goals.
Our team installed penny tile at the water fountains and sinks, offering a wonderful and dynamic appeal. The corridor sinks were especially challenging as the tiles had to be waterproofed, strategically sloped, and then wrapped around and under the basin, down to the floor, and carried up the wall to the ceiling. Mission accomplished – and the results are both visually appealing and practical.
The kitchen also needed a revamp: here, we installed quarry tile. A great choice, but this presented challenges as well. We had to slope to multiple drains to prevent water from pooling all over the room’s surface. Safety always comes first, and we were able to ensure St. Stephen’s kitchen staff had a secure – dry! – work environment.
The bathrooms and kitchens also called for 4×8 subway tile. The bathrooms featured a standard 50% offset or “brick pattern,” while the kitchen tiles were all “stacked,” for a clean, contemporary look.
