More than 3,000 square feet of tile was installed on the bathroom floors, walls, and showers of the pediatric hematology, oncology and bone marrow transplant inpatient unit as part of the sixth-floor renovation of Holtz Children’s Hospital in Miami, FL.
In addition, approximately 13,000 square feet of sheet vinyl was installed using custom water-jet fabrication. The sheet-vinyl flooring installation involved the laying of an intricate design featuring long, wavy lines and circles within circles, all in multiple colors.
Since the sheet vinyl was installed in a healthcare environment, everything was heat welded with a large amount of flash coving. Heat welding evenly seals each seam, while flash coving reduces the risk of fluids and bacteria being caught between the floors and the walls.
