The type(s) of flooring installed at hotels has to be many things. It must be good looking, long lasting, slip-resistant, easy to maintain and cost effective. The flooring in the heavy traffic areas such as the lobby, corridors, and restaurants must be able to withstand the daily stomping, and the flooring in the guest rooms must look as clean and nice as the day it was installed.
With South Florida’s hospitality commercial industry booming, it’s crucial that hotels stay modern and fresh looking. One way for hotels to stay ahead of their competition is to replace its flooring. Our infographic above outlines some of the most common flooring options for various parts of a hotel, and the reasons for choosing them.
Broadloom & Axminster carpet continues to dominate in public spaces, particularly lobbies, corridors, ballrooms and meeting rooms. They are popular due to their high quality, as they are purposely designed to withstand the wear and tear often associated with high traffic areas.
Vinyl plank flooring has also become more popular as a hotel flooring in recent years. It is most commonly found in hotels in the economy to mid-scale market, as well as extended stay hotels that have kitchens. Vinyl flooring is also an option for bathrooms, as it can give you a wood look without the vulnerabilities of wood in bathrooms. Vinyl flooring installations are perfect for those who want a wood look but a product that is durable and low maintenance.
Some hotel properties are also installing ceramic and/or porcelain tile these days. Tile is most commonly found in restrooms, public spaces and guest rooms, and is popular because it is tough, scratch-resistant, temperature tolerant, stain-resistant, easy to clean and allergy free.
Lastly, some hotels install carpet tile in mixed-use spaces, including corridors, guest rooms and public spaces. Carpet tile is great because it is versatile, easy to install and easy to replace (piece by piece).
